About
I was first elected in July 2024 as your Labour Member of Parliament for Broxtowe.
I was born and raised in Bilborough. My parents came from Jamaica in the 60s to help rebuild this country; my dad worked on ibuprofen at Boots in Beeston and my mum served in our NHS before running a local shop in Radford.
I began my career in Nottingham at the lowest grade in the Civil Service, rising to a senior manager in the NHS where I shaped new approaches to patient engagement, coordinated a project to address high-levels of teenage pregnancy, and wrote the first Carers’ Charter in the hospital I worked at.
Education is what brought me into politics; specifically, how we educate neurodiverse people. My son is dyslexic and I wanted to help other families struggling against the system, so I set up a not-for- profit organisation raising awareness of dyslexia in schools, colleges and in the community, and trained 100’s of teaching assistants to recognise the signs of dyslexia and how to support dyslexic people. I was elected as the Chair of the APPG for Dyslexia shortly after being elected as an MP and I am determined in my pursuit to advocate for a reform of the teacher training curriculum, to help deliver inclusive teaching styles that meet the needs of all pupils in the classroom.
As a Member of Parliament, I am also the Chair of the APPG for the Caribbean, a member of the Joint Committee for Human Rights, the Ecclesiastical, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, and a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
I have a constituency office in Beeston and I am available to contact at juliet.campbell.mp@parliament.uk, and by phone at 0115 646 6260 (constituency).
