I had a fantastic time visiting Toton Sidings that houses DB Cargo, Network Rail and Groupe Cat.
I learned so much about the vital work being carried out right here in Broxtowe and how what happens on this site has an impact right across the UK.
From fixing our train lines to the moving of British made vehicles from the UK to Europe, Toton Sidings plays a crucial role in in keeping our country moving.
Did you know that one freight train can replace up to 76 HGVs from our road?
I’m incredibly proud of the work that takes place here.
Transporting freight by rail brings huge environmental benefits. The work happening here directly contributes to the lowering of the UK’s carbon footprint as a tonne of freight moved by rail produces a quarter of the carbon emissions that it would if it were moved by road.
But none of this will be possible without the incredible workforce on site.
Their dedication, expertise and commitment to maintaining and improving our rail infrastructure ensures that goods are moved smoothly and safely, allowing us here in Broxtowe to do our bit for the environment and and British industry.
