Hundreds of workers are based at the Panattoni Park in Eastwood, including large employers like Amazon and Evri.
But there is no pedestrian or cycle access to the business park. This means that workers who don’t drive are often seen walking along the A610 in the dark, a dangerous way to get to work.
The MP Broxtowe, Juliet Campbell is calling for a footbridge to be put in place to make it safer for employees at the business park to get to work.
Juliet Campbell MP said
“Too many local people and too many workers are telling me that the road safety around this business park just isn’t good enough.
This isn’t safe for residents driving on the A610 and it isn’t safe for workers trying to get to their shift every day.
I will continue demanding action is taken by the council and the Mayor until this dangerous situation is resolved.”
Craig Thompson, GMB organiser said
“What we are hearing is a deep concern about health and safety. People may be hit by a vehicle, and this is simply not good enough. We are demanding action that a bridge is built for our members to safely cross busy roads.”
